Gender - Team Leader / Gender and Development Specialist

The gender analysis will provide an understanding whether gender inequalities persist in the infrastructure sectors (water, transport and energy) in Malawi and its causes, how it intersects with other inequalities (social and economic), how it impacts on human rights enjoyment and/or benefits produced, including access to development efforts. It must also examine the partner government's commitment and capacity to work on GEWE issues. The analysis should consider how to apply a rights-based approach (RBA) to infrastructure development projects.
Education required
A Master's Degree in the Social Sciences, in particular, Gender and Development Studies, Labour Economics, or any related social discipline
Experience required
- A minimum of 12 years post-degree relevant professional experience in the social sector
- At least 3 previous assignments related to gender studies; preparation of gender country profiles, or gender analyses in developing countries
- Knowledge of international/regional agreements and initiatives on gender (UN, CEDAW, Beijing, Protocol on the Rights of Women in Africa etc.)
- Demonstrated experience in managing a team of experts eg. team leader position
- Experience on gender issues related to infrastructure development would be an asset
- Experience in data analysis is a plus
- Computer literacy and proficiency in MS Office
